Well, it’s been sometime in the works but hadn’t really started off. I was always in a dilemma as to When? Why? How? should I make that big leap/switch from the all free and wonderful platform provided by Goggle (Blogger) to much more advanced and paid service as a self hosted blog running WordPress.

There have been numerous mails that I have received on this topic from my dear readers and even a few have offered my free hosting or to share their un-limited hosting plans to set-up my blog on WordPress. I have always been of the thought that when you have something free – why on earth would you need to pay for the same service? Any reasons?

Yes – I finally found many convincing reasons, one of which was when I was recently on a trip to Delhi to attend the unveiling of the HP Photosmart Printers. I was in for a shock when my popular tech blog on blogger (The Most Authoritative Technology Blog) which has been up and running for almost 4 years now was suddenly pulled down with a message from Google stating as “This blog has been removed”. That was really a shocker for me – what if my blog has been deleted – no back-ups and no way to get it back and running. As most of you might already be knowing you can’t really get in touch with Google and they at times never even bother to respond back.

So, that episode was really an eye-opener for me. That’s when I decided that I must move on to a dedicated platform and that’s when I started to research more on what’s the best hosting plans? the best platform? then the domain and what’s SEO all about? What about the theme? I’ll dwell into the finer details on each of these points in my posts a few days from now.

I really don’t want to bore you folks on my very first post. Please do continue your patronage and do inform your friends and family about the new website. Also, do drop me a line on your suggestions and tips on how I can make this much better website.
