Woo Headlines Theme

As you all know I am pretty new to WordPress (though I have been blogging for years on Blogger), I had decided to use a very Nice theme from Woo Themes called Headlines since it had many customizations that were much apt for my kind of tech blogging needs. So, I’ve been putting the theme and a few related Plugins to test for about 2 weeks now on my local WAMP setup. I had never faced any problems with the in-built image resizing script.

But once I had hosted my blog on my public domain – the problems started to come up – with no resized images coming up. I initially thought it was something to do with the configurations but nopes – it wasn’t that simple and I ended up wasting almost 1-2hours working on it. But as always finally I had it working the way I needed it.

So, here’s the solution on how to get it working very easily.

  • Replace the File found at “wp-contentthemesheadlinesthumb.php” with the latest file available at http://code.google.com/p/timthumb/
  • Change the permission of the folder “wp-contentthemesheadlinescache” and also the file “wp-contentthemesheadlinesthumb.php” to 755 (Basically CHMOD using your FTP client or hosting web interface to 755).

Well, that’s all you need to do to have the Woo Headlines theme automatically resize the images in the Featured Bar and also in the Recent Posts sections. Hope this was simple and helped you. If not, feel free to comment below and we can help you fix the issue.
